WHY REMOVE A TREE?

People! In an ideal world no tree would need to be felled, however, we often have to compromise due to the interaction between trees and people – it’s really the reason arborists exist! There are many reasons why a tree may not be desirable where it is located – for example, it may be posing a hazard to people or property if it is in poor condition, or potentially unstable. It may be causing other issues such as excessive shading affecting quality of life; it may be located in the way of development, or potentially causing issues like shrinkage subsidence; it may have been poorly pruned in the past. Whilst it is always regrettable to have to fell a tree, if the tree in question has outgrown it’s available space, or was planted in a poor location to begin with, then removal and appropriate replacement could be a much better option than harsh and repeated pruning in an ongoing battle to retain it.

TREE FELLING vs TREE DISMANTLING

Controlled felling of a tree, where the space allows, is traditionally the ideal method to remove a tree. From a risk perspective, this keeps everyone’s feet on the ground – the safest place - and makes the processing of the tree much more efficient than climbing & dismantling. At Swift Tree Services, we have over 30 years’ combined experience of felling trees, so you can be confident in our judgement & capabilities. However, with our grapplesaw-equipped truck & crane, we will choose to mechanically dismantle trees in preference even to felling – for the ultimate in safety and efficiency of tree removal. 

Where truck & crane access is not possible, Swift Tree Services are equally at home with sectional dismantling of trees, either working from our MEWP, or with our climbing arborists using rope access. We are competent, experienced and well-equipped to rig & lower cut sections to the ground, with a variety of techniques, avoiding damage to the surrounding area and will always look to mechanise the removal of material from site with our digger and skidsteer to minimise manual handling for our crews.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Many species of predominantly broadleaved trees will regrow from their stump, so our surveyors will advise you to consider the removal, or treatment, of these.
