Our Fleet and Yard Facilities

Swift Tree Services run a comprehensive fleet of vehicles and machinery in order to allow us to maximise our safety and efficiency on site. We operate our own yard premises, from which timber and woodchip produced on our jobs is taken to be recycled into biomass for energy generation, through our partner RH Biomass Ltd.

We are able to offer this facility to other arborist companies, thereby helping the local industry to responsibly reuse their arisings.

We constantly look to improve and develop our fleet of vehicles and machines, in order to ensure that our teams are well equipped and can operate as safely and efficiently as possible. Please see the details of our current fleet below:

Yard Facility

We are based from our own industrial estate premises, meaning we are able to operate as required day or night without causing a disturbance to any neighbours. We are also conveniently located for the major road network, meaning we can be quickly out to work sites. Our yard is able to accommodate articulated trucks, meaning all timber and woodchip brought in can be efficiently removed and recycled as biomass fuel - to be used in power generation.
The yard houses our office premises from which all our operations are organised and it has also played host to an extraordinary wedding!

Iveco 18T HGV & Hiab Crane

We have always tried to think outside the box and look for creative approaches to our work. Our crane truck was originally brought in to allow us to quickly remove timber from site in large pieces - saving time and huge amounts of demanding physical labour. Whilst this is still an important function of the truck, the addition of our GMT 035TTC grapplesaw, has transformed the way we are able to dismantle trees. The machine is capable of cutting and holding pieces whilst lowering them safely to the ground. It is by far the safest way to conduct tree dismantling, as well as being incredibly efficient and therefore hugely cost-effective.

20m Tracked MEWP

If tree work cannot be completed from the ground, then our MEWP is the next safest option. Our Hinowa 20:10 machine offers an incredible combination of narrow access and small footprint, with enormous height and outreach. This means we can prune trees both more safely and more sympathetically than with conventional climbing techniques. It also means less wear and tear on the bodies of our crews. The MEWP is an ideal platform for hedgecutting, eliminating the inherent risks of working from stepladders, whilst also offering far greater capability for maintaining larger hedges.

7.5T Chip Truck

Our Mitsubishi Canter Fuso tipping truck is an ideal arborist vehicle allowing maximum chip capacity, in a comparatively compact unit. This means we can access tight areas and get the chipper close to the worksite, but still carry large volumes of chip away, without being overweight. In this way, we can minimise trips back to the yard to tip off, and therefore downtime for the chipper.

Vermeer BC1000 & Timberwolf TW230 Woodchippers

Our combination of woodchippers gives us great options to process tree material as efficiently as possible. The Timberwolf with it’s 6×9” infeed is small and light enough to be manoeuvred by hand, or towed off road with the WorkyQuad to access difficult sites. The Vermeer has a large 12×17” infeed and a 95HP engine allowing it to process large volumes in quick time. It is also capable of being fed by crane or digger, reducing the manual handling of cut material to an absolute minimum.

Doosan 2.7t Excavator

Our arb-specific digger has been professionally adapted for tree work and comes with a fixed-rotator log grab enabling it to handle both brash and timber with the maximum efficiency. It is the ideal partner to the grapplesaw truck for dismantling and processing trees. We can also use the digger with it’s tree shear attachment for felling saplings and removing overgrown hedges – it is particularly adept at dealing with unpleasant hawthorn or blackthorn trees! The digger can run a flail which is excellent for hedge reductions and maintenance conducted outside of bird nesting season.

Cast WorkyQuad SSQ15

Our mini skid-steer loader is another tool to maximise efficiency on site and minimise manual handling for our crews. The loader can lift and carry large pieces of timber safely, thereby reducing time and fuel spent cutting pieces small enough to lift by hand. It’s compact size means it can access areas beyond where the digger can reach, plus it can tow trailers and other implements.

Land Rover Defender 110 Tipper

Our original vehicle, the faithful land rover still sees regular use as a second chip truck and tow vehicle. With it’s exceptional off-road capability, it also can open up different access options to sites. The land rover is fitted with a powerful hydraulic winch, which can be used to assist with felling trees and with extracting material from awkward spaces. The vehicle was completely rebuilt on a galvanised chassis in 2013.

FSI B20 & D30 Stumpgrinders

Our pair of stump grinding machines offers the flexibility to deal with almost any stump removal requirement. The B20 is a small, pedestrian machine able to be manhandled into small and awkward spaces, whilst the D30 is a powerful hydraulic machine able to grind out large, or multiple stumps in quick time.

Ford Ranger Pick-Ups

Our pair of towing vehicles are a distinctive sight with their company livery. They are used to tow our various trailers to site as well as giving us additional carrying capacity for personnel and equipment.
